Pottery Wheel Level I

Start your pottery journey! This beginner-friendly course focuses on the core foundations of wheel throwing while creating functional bowl forms — Focus on building confidence and control.

Skills You’ll Learn:

  • How to center clay
  • Pulling even walls 
  • Shaping simple bowl forms
  • Intro to glazing & finishing
  • Proper wheel setup and clay clean up

 

Students will create several bowl pieces while learning essential wheel skills.

  • Pulling and attaching handles

  • Intermediate glazing & surface techniques

Students will create functional mugs or cups with finished details and decorative glazing.

  • Creating intentional shapes & altered forms

  • Stacking and attaching wheel-thrown pieces

  • Sculptural wheel techniques

Students will create one or more larger sculptural or statement pottery pieces.
